Borg Assimilator Dreadnought Carriers are commonly tasked with establishing Collective control over planets, but their true specialization is in technology capture. Their Assimilation Probes and on-board processing facilities allow for rapid seizure, capture, and disassembly of enemy vessels. This created an unusual opportunity for the Alliance – while most Borg technology is deeply morally unsettling, these vessels have proven an ability to remove an enemy ship from the fight while preserving most of its crew. By deploying Assimilation Probes to physically attach to defeated enemy vessels, the process of core breach can be arrested, and the ships later flown to safety or simply disassembled, their crews impounded for the duration of hostilities. The sheer amount of Alliance technology required to keep the Borg vessel somewhat functional outside the collective has attached Miracle Worker status to the ship, and while strange, the ability to command a flotilla of assimilated vessels as hangar craft has attracted many a captain to this experimental program. It can be used repeatedly, storing up to 4 charges and generating a new charge every 30 seconds, but its true power comes from its use on friendly assimilated vessels.When used on a friendly assimilated vessel, such as one captured by an Assimilation Probe, the bonus to Critical Chance is instead granted to all Hangar Pets controlled by the equipped vessel, the duration is permanent until map move, and it stacks up to 86 times. Assimilated vessels grants two stacks plus an additional stack per Hangar Pet Rank, up to a possible total of seven stacks. Assimilation Probes retain their Rank during this process and are able to assimilate additional vessels afterward, but other forms of assimilated vessels (such as those captured by Nanite Torpedoes, etc) are completely disassembled by the process. This console additionally provides a passive bonus to Hull Restoration, Critical Chance and Hangar Pet Critical Chance.  Starship Trait – Targeted Excision After achieving level 5 in your Borg Assimilator Dreadnought Carrier, you will unlock the Vanguard Shield Shaping starship trait. While this trait is slotted, activating Beams: Overload or Cannons: Rapid Fire activates rank I versions of both abilities on your hangar pets.   Borg Assimilator Probes (Frigates) The Borg Assimilator Dreadnought Carrier has two hangar bays equipped with a Borg Assimilation Probes, drill-shaped vessels equipped with multiple Assimilated Plasma Beam Arrays. The most famous application of this technology was when it was used to enable a unique diplomatic confrontation between the Federation and the Children of Tama, that would eventually lead to successful and peaceful negotiations between the two parties. Since then, the technology has been re-specialized for more general defensive purposes, allowing Tamarians to neutralize and weaken the shields of their foes. This tactic is sometimes still used to allow forced negotiations with aggressive ship captains, by dropping their shields to allow for transporters to lock on to the unsuspecting officers. This console also provides a passive ability which deals a large amount of additional Kinetic Damage when firing upon a ship affected by the Shields Offline status (once every 10 seconds). Starship Trait - Darmok and Jalad Your first weapon hit against an unshielded quadrant on a foe will allow you to beam their commanding officer away from their bridge, resulting in momentary confusion and a long-lasting debuff to their outgoing damage. Your ship will in turn reap the benefits of being prepared for this tactic, gaining an instant reduction to all Captain Ability Cooldowns. This may only trigger once per enemy ship.

We are very pleased to announced the remaster of Starfleet’s Veteran Heavy Destroyer variants – both the Chimera and Manticore Heavy Destroyers have been updated to Star Trek Online’s current standard of detail and visual fidelity.   Long-time Star Trek Online players may remember that the Chimera was originally designed by fan artist Jason Lee for STO's "Design the Next Enterprise" contest. Though it didn't win that contest, the STO team loved Jason's design and found a home for it in STO as the ultimate reward for the game’s lifetime subscription program. Today, we are proud to announce that we have hired the very same Jason Lee to remaster the Chimera for us over a decade after we originally added his ship to STO.   Jason is an accomplished 3D artist and did a fantastic job bringing the ship up to our current standard of quality. He was also able to incorporate some tweaks to the design he had always wanted to make, while retaining the ship’s race car profile and striking quad nacelle arrangement. Jason also did an incredible job refining the Chimera’s phaser Lotus and warp nacelle mechanisms with additional detail and believable mechanics.   In conjunction with the remaster of the Chimera, we are also happy to announce its T6 iteration, the Manticore, has been updated! STO’s Art Director, Thomas Marrone, has long flown the Manticore as his main starship in game, and jumped at the chance to use Jason’s new Chimera model as a foundation for an updated Manticore.   As with all remasters, these updates are free to anyone who already has a Starfleet Veteran Heavy Destroyer. General:   Resolved an issue that caused some captains to have multiple ships active at the same time.  Resolved an issue that prevented the fleet project "Ongoing Research Projects II" from accepting Duty Officers directly from contributing captains.  Improved the placement of the firing nodes on the Galor and Keldon-class ships.  Moved the forward top turret node on the nebula to the forward dorsal saucer phaser array.  Moved the outer cannon nodes on the Nebula to be on the dorsal phaser array.  Fixed the navigation lights on the Maquis Raider so that they are on the correct sides (red on the left, green on the right).  Aligned the fire spouts on the Fek'Ihri Gok'Tad Carrier so they are all at the same angle while at full impulse.  Corrected the position of the navigation light on the right wing of the Romulan Melponar Warbird.

General:   Resolved an issue with the episode Diplomatic Orders where a shuttle was using the wrong material during the take-off cutscene.  Added the missing saucer section deflector on the Galaxy-class saucer section.  Resolved an issue where the New Orleans Recon Destroyer had offset decals on its nacelle pylons.  Resolved an issue on the Nova Science Vessel where the left side of the deflector dish appeared incorrect.  Updated the Sovereign "Majestic" variant so its pylons do not glow bright white at a distance.  Updated the Eagle Terran Pilot Escort’s nacelles so they should no longer be bright white at a distance.  Removed the "none" Windows option on the Worldrazer Juggernaut, it was included in error.  Resolved an issue with the Type 6 windows on the World Razer Juggernaut saucer so they properly display on the ship now.  Adjusted the Centaur Refit's saucer so that the part looks better with certain materials.  Romulan Multi-Mission Science Warbirds, all variants:   Moved aft weapon firing nodes back so their beams do not clip through the hull.   Fixed an issue where some forward weapon nodes were floating above the bridge section.  Improved the placement of the firing points for weapons on the Gemini Temporal Cruiser.  Adjusted window placement on the Gemini Hull to reduce visual glitches in sector space.  Resolved minor gaps on the Pathfinder and Trailblazer Long-Range Science Vessel Variants.  Resolved minor gaps on the Vaadwaur Juggernaut.  Added "Fin - No Decal" to the Legendary T'Liss Light Warbird customization options.  Updated stripe decals on the Verity to be properly attached to the hull instead of the saucer.
