    We’ve been through the Age of Discovery, and celebrated a Legendary Anniversary, but now it’s time to return to 2411 for good, Captains. Welcome to the Year of Klingon. Welcome to House Divided. In this epic new update for Star Trek Online, a brand new face is joining our stories cast – Robert O’Reilly, who played Chancellor Gowron in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, is joining the cast as Aakar, Gowron’s ancestor and a loyal servant of the treacherous Ju’la. Players have already met Aakar in The Rise of Discovery, but Robert O’Reilly brings a new dimension and character to the role. Gowron was a brilliant, crafty leader, and time will tell if those traits came from his Grandfather. In addition, an old fan favorite returns. J.G. Hertzler is stepping back into the role of Martok, rejoining our cast as our focus turns again to the Klingon Empire. With the incursion of J’ula into the modern era, more and more Klingons are listening to her message of a return to “traditional” ways. What side will Martok choose? The classic Klingon tutorial experience, one of our favorites, has been given a visual overhaul, with new environments, new cutscenes, voice overs, and more. Playing this classic story now feels like a brand new game. In addition, characters like J’Mpok, Adet’pa, Kagran and Worf have been given entirely new models, as have several classic Klingon ships, and there are new hair and face options for male Klingon Captains. This is the only the beginning of the Year of Klingon, and the classic updates will continue as we move forward. Those seeking the power of time itself can engage in the House Divided event, playing through the brand new TFO, Best Served Cold, three new Patrols, or the two new episodes in the House Divided story to earn themselves a Red Angel Suit. The Year of Klingon is almost upon us, Captains, and the first stage is right around the corner. To help you find and celebrate all of the amazing rebuilt content, we put together a very honorable list of what’s changing with tomorrow’s patch and where you can find it. First, we aimed our sights at the Klingon Tutorial, and the Empire Mission Arc. These episodes have new environment art, updated cutscenes, new and updated voice over recordings, and even some new gameplay. Our designers have taken to the field of battle and produced some missions that we feel are up to our modern standards for Star Trek Online, and really make you feel like a Klingon Warrior.     Some of our most iconic Klingon characters were long overdo for an update, and our character artists took on that task with gusto. Meddling in the timeline is prohibited by almost all galactic powers in one way or another, but when values are in conflict a hierarchy must emerge. The Iconian War set that prohibition against life itself, and while records are tightly sealed, temporal disturbances were recorded by independent observers across the quadrant. We have recently learned that this, at least for Starfleet, was not a unique instance. An entity called the Red Angel meddled repeatedly in what has been termed the ‘prime timeline’, giving credence to the notion its primacy refers to its favorable outcome. The Angel’s actions were seen as a moral duty: values held by life mean nothing to cold, dead rock.   In this way have morals and ethics always conflicted with practicality in Star Trek. A culture’s principles must eventually weigh against each other. Brutal decisions creep ever closer, we cannot always find clean ways out, and those moments tilt the true scales of morality. We are unable to discover answers, only outcomes. The Red Angel did what they felt was right, and in their wake we are privileged to pick up the pieces and judge. In doing so, each of us prepares ourselves. When cleverness fails you, when the test of history is upon you, you must choose what will be left in your wake. The Lobi Consortium understands such things better than most. Ferengi are typically inoculated against this moral burden that aches the lobes. Answers come from a spreadsheet and judgement goes to the lowest bidder. It’s a clean monopoly of conscience, and the Consortium is quite happy to provide all manner of technology scavenged from the Red Angel’s wreckage. The only costs are fiscal when the only good is latinum.       Captains opening the Angel’s Wake Lock Box may find themselves fortunate enough to win the Ba'ul Science Intel Spearhead [T6].  It is the apex of Ba'ul ship design. Powerful defensive capabilities ensure it's no pushover for any invaders to the area it guards, and its synchronization with other Sentry Vessels allows it to transform any contested space into an unyielding place, inhospitable to all its foes. A powerful Universal Console can be acquired in the Angel’s Wake Lock Box: the Temporal Anomaly Projector. Activating this console projects a Temporal Anomaly toward the target. This Temporal Anomaly will follow the target ship and stop on contact. It will damage and disable the weapons of enemy ships in its area, both while it seeks its target and after it stops. It also provides moderate bonuses to Antiproton, Physical, and Radiation Damage. Finally, it improves Shield Regeneration. A new Starship Trait is also available: Onboard Dilithium Recrystallizer. Activating an Engineering Bridge Officer Ability adds Power to whichever Subsystem has the least Power for a short duration. Then, for each non-Weapon Subsystem at maximum Power, the ship gains Bonus Damage for a moderate duration. Only the largest Bonus Damage applies if this triggers more than once.  (Additional information on the above starship will be contained in a separate Developer Blog.)   The Angel’s Wake Lock Box also has new Space and Ground weapons inside the Ba’ul Antiproton Weapon Pack. Ba’ul technology uses novel means of manipulating the flow of antiprotons, causing cascading resonance in enemies that can be harnessed to additional effect. These weapons are available as beams and cannon in space, and on the ground as pistol, two kinds of rifle, and heavy assault weapons. The standard Antiproton effect is replaced with Ba’ul Refraction, causing each shot fired to chain to an additional nearby target for a bit of extra damage. Rarely, weapon packs contain the Ba’ul Vanity Shield, providing the aesthetics of the Ba'ul Science Intel Spearhead to a ship that equips it in its vanity shield slot.  Captains may also acquire Angel’s Wake Kit Module packs. Two of these Kit Modules are universal, and can be used by any class. The rest are restricted to their specific class, as they are the Captain version of the Bridge Officer Training Manuals also offered in the Angel’s Wake Lockbox. Universal Kit Module - Ba’ul Obelisk Deploys a Ba'ul Obelisk. The Obelisk can network together with others deployed by the Captain and even their allies; each captain can deploy up to three Obelisks, while up to fifteen Obelisks can contribute damage to the network. The network will only unleash one attack at a time, but the damage of the attack will be greater than a similar number of individual Obelisks. Captains are advised that very large networks will typically dramatically overkill weaker foes with a single shot, though some--especially those in the KDF--find they enjoy the spectacle.   Universal Kit Module - Ba’ul Drone Deploys a Ba'ul Drone. This drone is designed to suppress Foes, engaging them in melee and restraining them with shackles that Hold them. After being Held, a Foe is immune to the shackles for a period of time. The drone is more fragile than most, but can easily be replaced -- when it is destroyed, most of the remaining Recharge time is refunded.   Career Kit Modules Engineering Kit Module – Shield Reinforcement Network IV Deploys a Turret that protects allies around it. Allies in the area and who enter after receive temporary Health via a protective shield bubble. The amount of Health improves based on how many allies are affected, and though the bubble's strength is fixed once it forms, allies in the area at formation receive the benefit of each other’s presence. Science Kit Module – Temporal Anomaly Containment IV Deploys a Turret that tractors a targeted Foe toward itself and Taunts it. If the Foe dies during the effect, the Turret will select a new target on its own.   Tactical Kit Module – Tactical EMP Bombardment IV Bombards target area with EMP charges from orbit, devastating machine and incorporeal Foes and disabling the mechanical abilities of all Foes in the area of the blasts.    Accordingly, new Bridge Officer Training Manuals can also be found inside the Angel’s Wake Lock Box. Fit for Lieutenant through Commander rank, they represent the I, II, and III version of the above career-specific Kit Modules. Engineering: Shield Reinforcement Network I, II, and III Science: Temporal Anomaly Containment I, II, and III Tactical: Tactical EMP Bombardment I, II, and III   New Captain’s Traits are also available within the Angel’s Wake Lock Box. They are universal and available to all species. Ground: Tenavik’s Counsel Antiproton and Damage Over Time Kit Modules and Weapons apply an additional Antiproton DoT to your foe. Does not apply to Damage Over Time caused by deployed creatures and objects, such as Exothermic Induction Field. Ground: Supersaturated Katra Stones Chance when Damaged to target the attacker with an Area of Effect Psionic attack. Each attacker can only be targeted once per 30 seconds. Space: Intelligence Agent Attaché Weapon Critical Strikes restore a small amount of Captain Ability recharge time. Space: Fragment of AI Tech Improves Control Expertise. Improves Energy Weapon Damage based on Control Expertise.    There are many other prizes within the Angel’s Wake Lock Box for players to acquire, such as the Ba'ul Vanity Shield, R&D Packs, Boosts, and other assorted items.  The Lobi Store also has new items available for purchase: Ba'ul Linked Sentry Space Set Ba'ul Linked Sentry Coordination Matrix This Console improves Antiproton Damage and Hull Capacity, as well as periodically clearing Control debuffs from the ship. Ba'ul Linked Sentry Antiproton Kinetic Torpedo The Ba'ul Antiproton Torpedo deals heavy kinetic damage to the target enemy, unlike other Antiproton Torpedoes. Like Ba'ul energy weapons, it causes an antiproton cascade to a second ship for additional damage. Ba'ul Linked Sentry Antiproton Omni The Ba'ul Linked Sentry Antiproton Omni is integrated directly with the ship's structural integrity field, allowing it to sync heat across the entire hull. It fires more rapidly than a normal Omni Beam Array. 2-piece Set Bonus: Oppressive Balance All Ba’ul Antiproton weapons chain an additional time. Other Antiproton weapons gain Ba’ul Refraction. Ba’ul Refraction gains significant Bonus Damage. 3-piece Set Bonus: Predator, Prey Active: Remove all debuffs from your ship. Changed the decal on the Remastered TOS T'Liss and Picard Bird of Prey to always appear over vanity shield FX. When using the T'liss Hull, the material on all pieces will now match when you change it in the Ship Customization Screen. The T'Liss Nacelle variants that do not have decals now have engine trails that match the other variants of the Legendary Light Warbird. Nenid opened her eyes, only to see the worried face of Centurion D’mev staring down at her. “Status report,” she said hoarsely, having taken in a lungful of smoke during the last exchange of fire. Coughing, she got to her feet with the junior officer’s assistance and took a seat in the command chair. “Preferably before the Tholians manage to find and destroy us, if you please, Centurion. “ D’mev blanched before speaking. “Commander, we are under cloak, per your orders. A Tholian fleet is massing within the Azure Nebula; it seems we encountered their vanguard during our investigation of the temporal anomalies there.” Nenid nodded as she called up tactical data to the main viewscreen.  And in a moment, a mission of science becomes a mission of war, she thought silently. “Engineering,” she said as she activated her command channel. “What’s our situation? That volley from the Tholians nearly rattled all of my teeth out of my skull. I hope my ship’s in better condition.” “Damage control operations have begun,” replied the chief engineer from her chair’s personal speaker.  “I can’t speak for your dental situation, Commander, but the ship will be ready to fight in minutes, per Republic battle doctrine. Engineering, out.” Nenid chuckled to herself as she beckoned her young, Academy-fresh science officer. He was clearly shaken; this was his first actual experience with space combat. Nenid silently vowed to herself that it wouldn’t be his last. “Science officer,” she said confidently as she studied the battle data flowing into view upon the main viewscreen. “Begin passive scans of the Tholian fleet. I want to know their combat disposition, ship types, crew compliments – everything – and quickly.” As the young Reman at the nearby science station began to comply with a single “Yes, Commander” in response, Nenid turned to her communications officer. Another fledgling barely old enough to enlist, she thought. I ask for veterans and they send me children. So be it. Here begins the lesson. “Comms,” Nenid said calmly, hoping to inspire some composure in the young Romulan officer. “Prepare one of our cloaked Comm-Drones; set it for tight-beam transmission to the sector relay station. Prime it to self-destruct after it beams the message back to Fleet Command. Understood?” He nodded in response as he carried out his orders. “Commander,” he asked softly. “What shall I have the drone transmit?” “Everything we’re about to learn on that Tholian fleet,” Nenid replied with a confident smirk. “That, and a very cordial invitation to the Republic Fleet and any allies that wish to join us here.” She paused as her smirk turned into a predator’s grin. “I’d hate to blow all of these insects back to whatever gods they hold dear by myself.” * * * Join in as part of a strike force to defeat the Tholian Fleet in the Azure Nebula. As part of our upcoming content release, from June 30th to July 30th, PC Captains playing Star Trek Online will have access to a special event. We want to give you the details now to prepare – but the name of this event might be a bit of a spoiler, so we'll have to hold that back.This new event will provide participating Captains with an epic reward: The Red Angel Suit. Read on to find out more about the event and its rewards.   Event Progress Participating in this event grants daily progress towards the Grand Prize: The Red Angel Suit. Obtaining the Red Angel suit requires 40 daily progress, and Captains can earn two daily progress per day by playing any of the following content: Two Brand New Episodes (2 Points Each) New Task Force Operation: Best Served Cold (2 Points) Three New Patrols (1 Point Each) Clash Above Ceron Strike at Seedea Trouble over Terrh   Once the player has obtained 40 daily progress on their account, they can claim the Red Angel Suit. After that, the event will still be playable, granting a scaling dilithium reward that begins at 8,000 dilithium ore and scales by 1,000 dilithium ore for every day you participate in the event. Captains will also have the option to purchase their remaining progress in the event with Zen. The price for this buyout will prorate, based on the amount of progress a Captain has completed.   The Red Angel Suit In Star Trek: Discovery, the Red Angel Suit was a powerful device capable of traveling through time by thousands of years. Now, Khitomer Alliance scientists, with the help of the Excalbian construct Michael Burnham, have managed to recreate some of the functionality of the original suit to outfit their officers. The Time Crystals necessary to travel far through time weren’t possible to recreate, but the suit itself was. Powerful and versatile, it functions as standard combat armor until its special properties are needed. These properties, referred to as Red Angel Mode, can only be used for a short while before the systems must recharge.   Passive: Revive If the wearer would ever be defeated while in Red Angel Suit is equipped, the Red Angel visits them from the future of their timeline, reviving them and releasing a shockwave blast, knocking nearby enemies down and damaging them. This effect has a separate internal recharge time.   Active: Red Angel Mode The power of the suit goes beyond saving yourself from certain death, however. By activating Red Angel Mode, you will be able to engage the suit's full power, trading your action bar for the abilities granted by the suit itself and transforming into the Red Angel.     When the wearer engages the suit, a number of things happen at once. First, a blast of energy knocks back, disables, and damages nearby enemies. Second, their appearance temporarily becomes that of the Red Angel. Third, they trade their normal weapon active abilities for a new set of abilities. Fourth, they receive large bonuses to speed, damage, and damage resistance.     The Red Angel can activate Temporal Shockwave against a Target Foe. This deals heavy damage to the Target and nearby Foes, and shunts them forward in time several seconds, removing them from the battlefield entirely until they arrive in the future.     The suit can also discharge its internal power supply for an area of effect EMP. Though smaller than the one seen on Kaminar, this EMP still disables all mechanical abilities of nearby Foes as well as dealing heavy Electrical damage to mechanical and incorporeal entities. Large Hyposprays and Shield Recharge devices are integrated with the suit, and may be used without consuming a device. This has a modest recharge. This is a special event for our next content drop, and is not part of Event Campaign II. You'll be able to try out all of this new content in a little less than a week on PC, and after the Risian Lolhunat Festival on Console. General: The T'Liss Romulan Light Warbird as seen in Star Trek: The Original Series has been completely remastered! The new model features more accurate geometry and a new material. If you have a version of the T'Liss Warbird, ready that ship, visit the Ship Customization Screen, and choose the "T'Liss" preset to update your T'Liss to the revamped art. Resolved an issue that caused the Security Transport call from the Tong'duj to use Federation hailing frequencies.   Known issues: The Legendary Light Intel Warbird [T6] cannot be claimed through the Ship Vendor It can still be claimed through the C-Store once purchased The “Go To Zen Store” button that appears when viewing the Legendary Light Intel Warbird [T6] in the Ship Vendor does not currently function The C-Store can still be accessed through normal means.

“Silent?” Kagran repeated the word at the viewscreen, but he had heard General Martok clearly enough. It was rhetorical. He was merely trying to buy time to process what he had just heard. “Yes, silent, captain.” Martok did not appear to either pick up on or care for the pointless inquiry. “In all my days Rura Penthe has been described with many words, but never silent.” Kagran understood Martok’s meaning, all too well. Rura Penthe was the most notorious penal colony in the Empire, if not anywhere. It was a product of the old ways, a testament to the brutality of the Empire, and a promise to betrayers. Its population consisted mainly of political prisoners, or those whose dishonor was so heinous they did not deserve a warrior’s death. Why would it suddenly go silent? As if sensing Kagran’s internal musing on the subject, Martok continued, “If the listening posts have gone silent then it is clear that the colony is either under attack or soon will be. Leave it to J’Ula to prioritize the recruitment of honorless trash by orchestrating a prison break.” Something about this wasn’t adding up, as it often did when J’Ula was involved. Kagran was calculating unknown strategic variables before deciding to focus on what was known instead, “But it’s gone silent. General, I must urge caution in this regard. Rura Penthe’s listening posts are too spread out to have all gone silent at once. It would take far too many ships to accomplish this for such a small strategic gain. That’s the purpose of the posts, to make it infeasible, logistically, to attempt any sort of prison break without being detected.” Like Kagran, Martok began to look for the unknown variables in this situation. He came to the same satisfactory conclusion. “It’s a Mo’Kai trap.” The leather of Martok’s gloves audibly creaked and groaned as he squeezed his fist in anger. “Or a gambit...” Kagran nodded, “Impossible to say at this time. What is clear, however, are the facts. Rura Penthe is silent, and J’Ula has motive for wanting it that way. The layers of her plan beyond that we can only speculate, but caution is warranted.” “Aakar” the name was almost whispered by Martok. “It’s Aakar” he said more confidently, becoming certain of his revelation. “That bastard Aakar is behind this!” Martok slammed a fist down on his command chair and laughed. Kagran’s silence was an indication that he wished for the general to continue. “Don’t you see? This is clearly Aakar’s doing.” Martok began to lay out his theory. “During the war... what was the name of that Federation world...” the knowledge escaped his memory momentarily, Kagran moved things along, understanding where this was going. “Prior’s World.” “Priors World!” Martok was animated now, “Aakar developed a virus to infect the systems of the Federation defense grid, knocking the entire network out and turning their satellites against them. This is his work, I can smell his stink all over it!” While the logic leap was just that, Kagran could not disagree completely with the supposition either.
