The Resistance of Starbase One
This is…we’re und…arbase One…end help! A priority alert has gone out over all Alliance channels. The Federation’s Starbase One is under attack by a new form of Borg, and desperately fighting for their lives. You must go and assist before it’s too late! If these Borg gain a foothold in our universe, all will be lost. It’s time for “Resistance of Starbase One.” In this reimagining of the fan favorite TFO “Defense of Starbase One,” the new, aggressive and dangerous form of the Borg are laying siege to Starbase One. You’ll have to defeat waves of enemies and escort evacuation ships, just like before, but this time alongside new allies in the modern Federation and the Tholians, and new enemies in this new, more powerful Borg. This reimagined TFO launches on PC with the launch of Star Trek Online: Incursion.Quelle: /en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/11553593-the-resistance-of-starbase-one

Can you Survive the Borg Tesseract?
With the release of Season 30: Incursion comes a new event: the Borg Tesseract. Using vortices to cross vast gulfs of space and dimensions, the Borg launch attacks all across the Alpha and Beta quadrants, and it’s up to you to stop them! You can participate in this event by playing the episode Wish Upon a Star or the new episode Taken by Surprise, or the new TFOs “Guillotine” and “Resistance of Starbase One.” In each of these, the Borg have some new tricks, and they’re tougher and more dangerous than before. After playing the participating missions or TFOs for 20 days, you’ll earn the Adaptation set, designed to rework Borg technology for your own uses. This includes three items: Infinity Modulator Rifle Straight out of the classic FPS Elite Force series, the Infinity Modulator, or I-MOD, rifle comes to Star Trek Online! This Polaron rifle is twice as difficult for the Borg to adapt to, and has a secondary fire that does extra tetryon damage to targets with low hit points. Adaptation Personal Shield This special shield was designed by the Alliance's greatest Borg experts, and mimics their adaptation power for your personal shield. As you take damage, this shield will gain stacking Shield Resistance, making it harder for your enemies to defeat you. Universal Kit Module - Adaptation Vinculum Recent study of Borg cubes, including the Artifact, has allowed for a recreation of the Vinculum that sits at the heart of all Borg ships. This powerful little device can be deployed on the battlefield, healing and even ressurecting you and your allies. Set Bonuses Two Piece Set Bonus: If you have two pieces of this set equipped, defeating an enemy with a secondary attack will grant you Bonus Energy Damage for 60 seconds. This effect can stack. Three Piece Set Bonus: Having three pieces of this set equipped will grant you a new ability: Modulated Energy Blast. This powerful blast is powered by the proc from the two piece set bonus. Every time you defeat an enemy with a secondary attack, you'll gain a charge that can be spent to activate the Modulated Energy Blast. The more charges you build up, the more powerful the blast. It will damage enemies in a large radius, with a chance to knock them back and expose them. As always, completing the event earns you a hefty stash of dilithium ore, and you can continue to play for increasing dilithium rewards. Built-In Remodulation!
They’ve adapted! The Borg strike fear into the hearts of warriors across the galaxy with their ability to adapt to all manner of attacks. The soldiers of the great galactic powers rely on remodulating their weapons to overcome this adaptive defense. Previously, remodulation required you to fetch a special remodulator device, and to equip this in a device slot. Now, basic remodulation is a built-in function: When the Borg start to adapt to your weapons, the option to remodulate will appear over your power tray. You no longer need a frequency remodulator item, and basic remodulators will be removed from your inventory automatically. You can, however, still access improved remodulator functions. If you equip a Fractal Remodulator—available through the R&D interface, by using materials from the Defera Invasion Zone—your default remodulate power will change to the improved, faster remodulation. If you have Presequenced Remodulator consumables—also now craftable through R&D—or the set bonus from various Omega Force reputation gear sets, you can still use these, too. Going forward, we anticipate releasing additional specialty remodulators with additional benefits. Equipping one of these devices replaces your default remodulator, so that when the Borg start to adapt to your attacks, your remodulation benefits from the new abilities. In addition, we’ve reworked Borg adaptation itself. The Borg should be slower to adapt to changes overall, and against weapons that fire rapid sprays or bursts, they tend to adapt partially only on a per-burst basis, instead of with every shot. Overall, the cadence of combat against the Borg should be closer to what’s seen in the shows and movies: You can drop a couple of Borg with some well-placed shots, but then they adapt to your weapons until you remodulate frequencies. Of course, remodulation still takes time, so choose your moments wisely. And if you use the instant remodulate power of the Omega Force sets, while it’s re-processing you’ll have to rely on your default remodulator (or the improved device that you’ve equipped). You’ll see these new changes in your upcoming battles with the Borg, and they’ll work in older missions as well. Good luck against the Borg—resistance is not futile! Upgrade Your Ship Even Further!
Experimental technology has long been one of Starfleet’s greatest strengths. Recently, they extended their Experimental Ship Upgrade technology to the rest of the Khitomer Alliance, and now that has paid off in spades. Federation, Romulan, Klingon and Dominion scientists working in concert have expanded these Experimental Ship Upgrades to double their power, and when Star Trek Online: Incursion launches, you’ll be able to take advantage. Ships can now be upgraded one level past the previous T6-X. In addition to the upgrades that came with applying an Experimental Ship Upgrade token the first time, applying this upgrade adds: 1 Device Slot 1 Universal Console Slot 1 Starship Trait Slot That means that upgrading to the new T6-X2 grants you two of each in total. However, this second upgrade will cost you a little bit more. Here’s how it will work: Upgrading a T6 ship to T6-X requires 1 Experimental Ship Upgrade Token Upgrading a T6 ship to T6-X2 requires 3 Experimental Ship Upgrade Token Upgrading a T6-X ship to T6-X2 requires 2 Experimental Ship Upgrade Token Enjoy having even more versatile ships to explore the cosmos, Captains! We’ll see you in game. .share-footer a { margin: 20px 10px 10px 0; background: url(https://pwimages-a.akamaihd.net/arc/d7/af/d7afaaa14e96d0d973f76157ae31ec5b1466398539.png) no-repeat 0 0; opacity: .5; display: inline-block; height: 60px; width: 60px; padding: 0; border: 1px solid transparent; -webkit-transition: opacity .3s; transition: opacity .3s; } .share-footer .TI { background-position: 0 20%; } .share-footer .YT { background-position: 0 40%; } .share-footer .YT { background-position: 0 40%; } .share-footer .TW { background-position: 0 60%; } .share-footer .FO { background-position: 0 80%; } .FB:hover { background-position: 100% 0%; } .TI:hover { background-position: 100% 20%; } .YT:hover { background-position: 100% 40%; } .TW:hover { background-position: 100% 60%; } .FO:hover { background-position: 100% 80%; } .share-footer a:hover { opacity: 1; -webkit-transition: opacity .3s; transition: opacity .3s; } $(document).ready( function() { $('.show-lightbox').click(function() { var $el = $(this); var link = $el.data().lightbox; $.colorbox({href: link, maxWidth: '90%', maxHeight: '90%', scalePhotos: true}); }); }); .headerimage { border: 2px inset rgba(255, 255, 255, .05); border-radius: 2em; box-shadow: 5px 5px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, .3); -webkit-transition: all 500ms ease; -moz-transition: all 500ms ease; -ms-transition: all 500ms ease; -o-transition: all 500ms ease; transition: all 500ms ease; }Quelle: /en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/11553083-upgrade-your-ship-even-further%21

Drop the Guillotine!
Admiral Quinn noted the distinct lack of an interruption as he worked on his report to the assembled Alliance Command. He pondered if it had been five minutes or five hours, but reviewing the report, which he had been reading and re-reading, didn’t offer any clues. He resigned to himself that it was ‘good enough’ and he would iron out any issues ‘on-the-fly’ as he always did. He glanced out the windows of his office to the command deck and spied Lieutenant Linnea, busying herself at one of the consoles with an ensign. He made his way to the door of his office, waited a beat and then said, “Lieutenant Linnea, please join me in my office.” Linnea turned and acknowledged the admiral and waited for him to turn before addressing the ensign she was working with. “Keep on it, you’re picking this up quickly. I’ll be right back.” Quinn motioned to a data pad on the edge of his desk as Linnea entered. She picked it up as Quinn sat down and gestured across the surface of his own pad broadly in her direction. She looked down to the pad where the latest draft of Quinn’s report appeared. The top of the draft read: Closing Trans-Dimensional Vortices and You. She smirked, “Are you looking for feedback, Admiral, or approval?” Quinn’s brows raised, “The title can use some work, I admit, but it is succinct.” She tilted her head then nodded in agreement, then launched into reading this draft and applying edits, satisfied that Quinn wanted her feedback. “It seems like every time we meet there is another crisis… uh huh… nature of our job and comes with the territory… blah blah blah… I would like to acknowledge the continued effort of all parties…” Quinn observed as Linnea cut through his words like an expert butcher, dismantling them and separating out all the good bits and pieces from the bad, trimming the fat, so to speak. “Ok, now you’ve gotten to the heart of the matter, the Trans-Dimensional Vortices.” Linnea ceased her two-step-like pacing and took a seat, sparing only the swiftest glance to Admiral Quinn as she started to do so out of respect, but also knowing that she had permission to sit when she had entered the room. She had worked with him long enough that the dog and pony show between ranks wasn’t necessary when it was just the two of them. “I think you should cut the pleasantries and get right to it.” She began. Quinn motioned for her to continue the thought. “L’Rell shows patience for such Federation pleasantries, but she does it out of respect, not appreciation. Get right to the point and get her thinking about actionable information and she’ll show that appreciation.” Quinn stood and began pacing around the desk, challenging Linnea’s suggestion, “And risk offending Loriss and the Dominion?” Linnea shook her head and stood to match the Admiral. “On the contrary. You’re thinking of the Old Dominion. They regaled in veiled threat and honeyed words in equal measure. The New Dominion…” Quinn stopped her there, “I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Odo. He prefers his information without any sugar coating as well. And what he wants, Loriss echoes. I see your point.” Linnea nodded, “Now the Romulans…” Quinn again interrupted, “Point made. Let’s move onto the specifics of the report.” Linnea hid a smile with a strategic turn on her heel to begin her two-step pacing while she reviewed the specifics. “Trans-Dimensional Vortices… Admiral Kuumaarke… Proto-matter… ok… ah. Lukari and Tholian technology. Here we go.” Quinn sat back down as Linnea worked her magic. In a way, she reminded him of an orb weaver spider - performing her pacing two-step and diligently weaving together something wonderful out of chaos. *** Two Weeks Later Admiral Quinn nodded to Lieutenant Linnea in the back of the room. She gave him a subtle thumbs-up and then he addressed the assembled Alliance leaders. “I’m not going to waste anyone’s time with pleasantries and pageantry. I think we’ve proven that not only are we beyond the need for such theatrics in this relationship, but it’s also a little tired and cliché – after all, the Federation does like hearing the sound of our own voices.” L’Rell laughed. The rest of the assembled leadership looked at her in practiced horror until Quinn smiled and continued, “No, it’s funny. It’s funny because it’s true.” Loriss of the Dominion cleared her throat and addressed Quinn, “Yes, amusing. On with it, Quinn. Tell us about these Trans-Dimensional Vortices. You didn’t bring us out here to try your comedy routine for one of your crew mandated talent shows.” Proconsul D’Tan of the Romulan Republic added, “And more about this Lukari Proto-matter technology your science division has been developing to close them. Rumor has it that it’s Tholian in origin.” L’Rell watched as Quinn squirmed under the sudden verbal onslaught of the others, savored it for a moment, and then came to his defense, “I’m sure all of the technical specifications will come in time. What I found most pressing is why the Tholians are so eager to close them. What threat do they present?” The others nodded and looked to L’Rell. Never one to pass up the opportunity to lead, she stood, drawing all eyes to her. “I would prefer to handle the closing of these vortices within Klingon territory myself, rather than have the Tholians violate my borders to do it for me.” Quinn caught L’Rell’s gaze. She was giving him an opportunity to right the ship that his jocular introduction had nearly sunk. Quinn took the conversation reins L’Rell handed him. “Indeed. Specifications for the Stitching Network technology will all be provided so that you can maintain your sovereign territory and collectively we can put this threat behind us.” He turned to Loriss, “The Tholian Assembly has provided us with a mostly redacted report on the vortices. They form in regions of space that have experienced dimensional or temporal stress, weakening the space between dimensions and eventually causing a vortex to form.” L’Rell sat in her seat at that. Quinn could tell that the actions of her torchbearer, J’Ula, during the deposing of J’mpok, was weighing heavily on her mind. She had opened dozens of mycelial rifts with her weapon, and Aakar had done the same, all in the name of the Empire. A mess that was the responsibility of the Klingons to clean up, but nowhere near the bulk of the problem. That honor was firmly in the wheelhouse of the Federation. Quinn continued, “Given enough time, a vortex can grow to threaten the system or even sector of space it has formed in. The Tholians have prioritized the known vortices based on their assessment of how damaging they could be. However, I urge you to review this list yourselves as Tholian priorities have been known to differ from our own, from time-to-time.” D’Tan, keenly aware of Quinn’s attempt at levity, brushed past it and pressed his own agenda, “And when will the Stitching Network technology be available?” Quinn smiled, “Admiral Kuumaarke and some of our best and brightest are finishing final trials as we speak. You’ll all have the specifications within the week.” *** Prepare the Guillotine Vortices are starting to open across known space and rip holes between our dimension and somewhere else. Despite having the technology necessary for closing them, doing so will be anything but a routine science mission. Not because the vortices are particularly dangerous, but because something on the other side wants to keep them open. “Guillotine” is a Task Force Operation where your mission is to close the dimensional-vortices opening up across the known and prevent whatever is on the other side from getting a foothold into this universe. The blade falls for PC Captains with the launch of Star Trek Online: Incursion!Quelle: /en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/11552953-drop-the-guillotine%21

The Galaxy Goes to Red Alert!
The entire Galaxy is going to Red Alert! From August 31st at 8am PT to September 14th at 12pm PT on PC, all of our Red Alert events will be returning at once, as the Final Frontier is caught in a massive invasion on all sides. The fail condition will likely be removed in future runs of this event. In addition to their usual rewards, these Task Force Operations will also grant daily bonus progress. You’ll receive one Daily Progress each day for completing one Red Alert – doesn’t matter which one – on any character on your account. After you receive ten daily progress, you’ll be rewarded with a package containing the following, once per account: An Ultimate Tech Upgrade A Specialization Point An Experimental Ship Upgrade Token You can also purchase this Grand Prize on the events page, if you’d prefer. The price will be prorated as you earn Daily Progress, becoming cheaper the more you play. If you earn, or purchase, the event’s Grand Prize, you can still complete Red Alerts to earn Bonus Progress. Completing a Red Alert TFO each day will grant a bonus amount of Dilithium Ore, beginning at 8,000 and increasing by 1,000 for each completion thereafter. Red Alert Task Force Operations are available to Captains of level 50 or higher. Head out and defend the Galaxy, Captains! Mudd's Taking a Cruise!
Greetings, one and all! Welcome to my little corner of the galaxy, far away from the prying eyes of the Khitomer bzzt Alliance. Some of you are repeat customers, and I’m glad to see your faces, and so many new ones as well! You’re all like my family here, bzzt believe me. Today, I have something special for you. You’ve tooled around in giant warships before, of course. But what about something a bit more compact? Would you like to go, dare I say, cruising about the universe? Then perhaps you should take a look at my latest bundle of wares, friends. Right this way. Mudd is opening the doors on a new Choice Pack on August 24th! Purchase the Mudd's Cruiserweight Choice Pack for 29500 Zen, and choose any three of the above options! But that's not all - this pack will be 50% off from 8/24 @ 8am PT – 9/7 @ 12pm PT. Choose from the following options: 23rd Century Ship Pack [T6] Temporal Light Cruiser [T6] D7 Temporal Battlecruiser [T6] T'liss Temporal Warbird [T6] Jem'Hadar Light Battlecruiser [T6] Walker-class Light Exploration Cruiser [T6] 50x Master Keys 16x Elite Bridge Officer Upgrade Tokens [300x Pack] Lobi Crystals 10x Ultimate Tech Upgrades We're adding a special version of the pack! The Mudd's MEGA Cruiserweight Bundle is a one stop purchase to obtain all eight items in the pack at once! The pack contains all seven items, no choices needed. It will also launch on 8/24, for 60000 Zen, but will be 50% off until 9/7 at 12pm PT. Here's how it works: The MEGA Cruiserweight Bundle will appear in Mudd's Market at the same time as the Cruiserweight Choice Pack. This is a once per account purchase. When purchased, it will disappear from the store. If you'd like, you can still purchase the Cruiserweight Pack for more of the non-ship items. Purchasing the MEGA Cruiserweight Bundle will drop an item in your inventory, that you can unpack to receive the items. If you wish to buy both the MEGA Cruiserweight Bundle and the Cruiserweight Choice Pack, you must purchase the bundle first. Any purchase of the Choice Pack will cause the Bundle to disappear from the store. Never seen one of these packs before? Seen them all but still unsure how they work? Here's an FAQ just for you: Each time I buy this pack, I get to choose any three items? Yes! Even if you only purchase it once, the Mudd's Cruiserweight Choice Pack allows you to choose any three of the above ships, upgrades and more. You can choose multiples of the same item, as long as its not a ship. Are the ships bound to the character that buys them? Nope! The ships are account unlocks, like everything in the Zen Store. Once you purchase the bundle and choose any of the ships, you unlock that ship for all your characters, immediately, and all future characters. Can I claim a second ship of the same type? Also no. Because the ships are unlocked for your entire account, you only need to choose each ship once. Therefore, should you purchase a bundle and choose the Jem'Hadar Light Battlecruiser and two non-ship items, if you purchase a second bundle, you won’t be able to choose the Jem'Hadar Light Battlecruiser again. But I can choose the non-ship items again? You sure can. You can choose anything that's not a ship up to three times each, per purchase of the bundle. Even within the same purchase? That’s right. If you only want Upgrades, you can purchase this bundle once, choose the Upgrades three times, and get 30 Upgrades. It’s up to you! Do I have to purchase more than one bundle to get all the items? Yes, unless you buy the MEGA Bundle. Do I have to purchase more than one bundle? No! If you just want three of the ships, or any other combination, just purchase it once, claim the three items you want, and never think of it again. Do I have to purchase this bundle? That’s really up to you, friend. Does flying in a Cruiser mean I have to fly at cruising speed? ….what By the way, everything in Mudd's Market that isn't a Bundle is on sale for 75% off from August 24th at 8am PT to August 28th at 12pm PT! Grab more for your Zen! .share-footer a { margin: 20px 10px 10px 0; background: url(https://pwimages-a.akamaihd.net/arc/d7/af/d7afaaa14e96d0d973f76157ae31ec5b1466398539.png) no-repeat 0 0; opacity: .5; display: inline-block; height: 60px; width: 60px; padding: 0; border: 1px solid transparent; -webkit-transition: opacity .3s; transition: opacity .3s; } .share-footer .TI { background-position: 0 20%; } .share-footer .YT { background-position: 0 40%; } .share-footer .YT { background-position: 0 40%; } .share-footer .TW { background-position: 0 60%; } .share-footer .FO { background-position: 0 80%; } .FB:hover { background-position: 100% 0%; } .TI:hover { background-position: 100% 20%; } .YT:hover { background-position: 100% 40%; } .TW:hover { background-position: 100% 60%; } .FO:hover { background-position: 100% 80%; } .share-footer a:hover { opacity: 1; -webkit-transition: opacity .3s; transition: opacity .3s; } $(document).ready( function() { $('.show-lightbox').click(function() { var $el = $(this); var link = $el.data().lightbox; $.colorbox({href: link, maxWidth: '90%', maxHeight: '90%', scalePhotos: true}); }); }); .headerimage { border: 2px inset rgba(255, 255, 255, .05); border-radius: 2em; box-shadow: 5px 5px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, .3); -webkit-transition: all 500ms ease; -moz-transition: all 500ms ease; -ms-transition: all 500ms ease; -o-transition: all 500ms ease; transition: all 500ms ease; }Quelle: /en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/11552003-mudd%27s-taking-a-cruise%21

Star Trek Day
On September 8th, 1966, the world first met a group of people, and a ship, that would change our lives forever. Pitched as “wagon train to the stars", and brought to TV by the force of Lucille Ball’s will, Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek hit tiny television screens around the world and immediately captured hearts and minds. Through three seasons, and decades in syndication, The Original Series started a movement that still lasts today, more than half a century later. We live in a time where there’s more new Star Trek than ever before, and we’re looking forward to celebrating the franchise’s birthday soon with the rest of our Star Trek Family. From August 10th at 8am PT until August 24th at 12pm PT, on all platforms, there will be a special Starfleet Museum in orbit above Deep Space Nine and Earth Space Dock. The museum contains the starring ships from Star Trek movies, television, and more. Hailing each ship will give you words from their crew, and both in universe and behind the scenes facts about the ship and show. Hailing all ten of the ships will grant you a special title: Historical Documents Expert. We hope you enjoy this celebration, Captains! Happy (early) Star Trek Day! .share-footer a { margin: 20px 10px 10px 0; background: url(https://pwimages-a.akamaihd.net/arc/d7/af/d7afaaa14e96d0d973f76157ae31ec5b1466398539.png) no-repeat 0 0; opacity: .5; display: inline-block; height: 60px; width: 60px; padding: 0; border: 1px solid transparent; -webkit-transition: opacity .3s; transition: opacity .3s; } .share-footer .TI { background-position: 0 20%; } .share-footer .YT { background-position: 0 40%; } .share-footer .YT { background-position: 0 40%; } .share-footer .TW { background-position: 0 60%; } .share-footer .FO { background-position: 0 80%; } .FB:hover { background-position: 100% 0%; } .TI:hover { background-position: 100% 20%; } .YT:hover { background-position: 100% 40%; } .TW:hover { background-position: 100% 60%; } .FO:hover { background-position: 100% 80%; } .share-footer a:hover { opacity: 1; -webkit-transition: opacity .3s; transition: opacity .3s; } $(document).ready( function() { $('.show-lightbox').click(function() { var $el = $(this); var link = $el.data().lightbox; $.colorbox({href: link, maxWidth: '90%', maxHeight: '90%', scalePhotos: true}); }); }); .headerimage { border: 2px inset rgba(255, 255, 255, .05); border-radius: 2em; box-shadow: 5px 5px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, .3); -webkit-transition: all 500ms ease; -moz-transition: all 500ms ease; -ms-transition: all 500ms ease; -o-transition: all 500ms ease; transition: all 500ms ease; }Quelle: /en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/11550753-star-trek-day

Command the Friendship Class!
The Friendship-class Flight Deck Carrier is as elegant as it is versatile, and its ability to empower its own hangar flights makes it excellent at supporting its allies. Power-transfer modules that provide windows of starship-level energy to small craft can also light cities during disasters, and the same carrier fleet group that projects power along the boarder can add considerable teeth to even civilian craft. There is alignment here between warm hearts and cold tritanium – Starfleet is a deeply principled organization, but it is not in the business of sentimentality in starship design, and those it sends to fight its battles will always have the best it can provide. This ability to get equipment and power where it needs to go is useful in both diplomacy and combat because it is more primal, more fundamental than either. When hearts and heads align, the greatest strides of progress are made. Do you Believe in a No Win Scenario?
From across the quadrants, Captains of all species and creeds understand the value of occasionally pushing themselves to the limits – to find out just how far their equipment, and their willpower, can take them, and just how much fight they can muster when the situation is at its direst. Screw your courage to its sticking place, and dive headlong into these classic tests of mettle – dare to face the No Win Scenarios. This Event will include multiple TFOs previously featured individually in a combined Featured Event that will allow players to choose their preferred test each day, while earning Daily Progress toward a new grand prize reward. Defend the Kobayashi Maru in a starship-based simulation in a hazard-strewn space environment, or take on wave after wave of randomized enemy encounters within the dangerous confines of the Arena of Sompek. Participating in this Event will give all players the opportunity to win a new space set based on the Protostar from Star Trek: Prodigy for their entire account! Keep reading for details on these items, how you can participate in the Event, and what additional prizes may be earned. Take the Tests Again Two existing activities will be participating in this Event: Arena of Sompek – Ground TFO In the interest of strengthening the Alliance against its enemies, and providing entertainment, the Klingons have agreed to allow other members to participate in the legendary qaD HoS event. You’ve been invited to Qo’noS to participate as representatives of the Alliance. It will be good practice for the battles ahead, and should be good for morale. The Event version of the simulation ends after you complete Round 7. Kobayashi Maru – Space TFO The legendary Kobayashi Maru simulation has been updated to represent more of the risks of the modern galactic environment. Defend the ill-fated E.C.S. Kobayashi Maru from attackers amidst increasingly-dangerous waves of enemies, while avoiding randomized obstacles and hazards. The Event version of the simulation ends after you complete Round 6. While most of the action players will engage in during these TFOs have not changed for this event, a few minor adjustments have been made to each that will be present for the length of this Event’s run: As noted above, each has a fixed duration during this Event. Prior to the designated ending point, neither can be failed. During this Event, the Untimed/Infinite versions of these TFOs will be temporarily disabled. Each completion will reward a Choice of All Marks (replacing the usual Mark rewards) Both TFOs have had their Cooldown Timers temporarily disabled Review Your Results Viewing the details of this Event in-game is as simple as opening your Journal and navigating to the “Events” tab. From here, all of the pertinent information is at your fingertips, as are simple-to-use buttons that allow quick access to the associated Content for this Event. As a core feature of the updated Event System, all Progress Points gained toward completion of the Event are shared across your entire Account, and all earned Progress is automatically tracked and applied toward completing the Event. Players will be able to earn their Daily Progress once every 20 hours. Either of the above TFOs may be played as much as you like each day, so pick and choose how you prefer to gain Progress each day, and mix it up as much (or as little) as you like! Event Campaign The No Win Scenarios Event will be one of the Events participating in the latest Event Campaign. Each day that your Daily Requirement is met, the standard daily allotment of 50 Event Campaign Progress will be applied to your progress toward the completion of the Event Campaign’s Grand Prize. Rewards Accruing a total of 14 Days’ worth of Daily Progress will allow you to claim the Grand Prize of this Event. This reward includes all of the following: Protostar Experimental Technologies Space Set Based on one of Starfleet's most intriguing and mysterious starships, the Protostar, this set of space technology will bring you to the bleeding edge of modern spacefaring tech. This set comes with a Warp Core or Singularity Drive, and Omni-Directional Beam, and a Shield. Here are the details: Protostar Multiplicative Covariant Shield The Protostar Multiplicative Covariant Shield grants you a unique, Protostar based visual, and includes a special bonus that causes shield regen to improve on facings where shield strength is low. Protostar Omni-Beam Phaser Protostar Dual Warp Core/Dual Singularity Core Equipping mulitple items in the set creates bonuses for your ship. If you equip two out of the three pieces, you gain a bonus to shield drain resistance, and a bonus to critical chance for science powers. If you equip all three, you can the ability to offensively eject your warp core in combat. It looks a little something like this: 3x Featured TFO Reward Boxes Each gives a choice of 1x Specialization Point or an Enhanced Universal Tech Upgrade 25,000 Dilithium Ore Issued immediately for use as you see fit! (Note: The Featured TFO Boxes and Dilithium Ore are only rewarded once, to the first character on your account that claims the Grand Prize.) Bonus Rewards After claiming the Grand Prize, you will unlock the option of earning additional Dilithium Ore each day that you continue participating in the content associated with this Event. Each day you earn the Daily Progress you will be automatically granted a bundle of Dilithium Ore. This bonus reward will begin at 8,000 Dilithium Ore for the first day’s completion, then scales up with each subsequent bonus completion that you achieve. The more you play, the more you continue to earn! Zen Buyout Option For players interested in instantly completing this Event – whether that is due to worries over finding the play time to complete it, or simply wanting to move immediately into earning Bonus Rewards – we will be offering a method for buying out. Within the Event UI, an option will be presented that allows you to purchase the remaining progress that you need, for a scaling amount of Zen. The base price for this service will be 2,000 Zen, but every single Daily Progress that you earn will reduce that price on a percentage basis. Thus, if you have already earned 7 Daily Progress (half of the 14 required), this price will be reduced for you down to 1,000 Zen. The more you play, the cheaper the Buyout Option becomes, dynamically! A Second Chance Once this Event has ended, your opportunity to earn Progress Points will have passed. However, the Event System will store the progress that you made long after the Event has expired. Based on this stored progress, the option to Buyout the rewards will remain available through a new “Second Chance” section of the Zen Store. The price for this buyout is the same as what is offered while the Event is active, and scales in the same manner based on your amount of Progress Points accrued. Legacy Progress As with previous Events, we will continue offering the opportunity for players to utilize their old Event tokens to apply toward this Event. To access this functionality, select the “Legacy Progress” button on the Event UI. This button will only be visible to players that have tokens available to trade in. Availability The No Win Scenarios Event will become available for players on PC starting on August 10th at 8am PT and continuing until August 31st at 12pm PT. Console Captains will be receiving the same event soon! Let's Talk about the Maelstrom
Greetings, Captains. We’d like to share our thinking about where the Maelstrom is at, the follow-up changes it’s getting, and how we’re making these decisions. For context, the Maelstrom Quantum Torpedo is an experimental new type of weapon we introduced with the Legendary Akira earlier this year. Our hope was it would open a new style of deliberate torpedo usage that felt more like Star Trek. For our first Maelstrom, we aimed high, seeking to learn just how long players were willing to defer gratification – a full 90 seconds for the Maelstrom Quantum Torpedo. By and large, these efforts succeeded. We knew these torps would have an outsized impact on PVP and require careful tuning there, but the bigger issue was the torpedo’s boss-splatting in pub queues. While powerful ships melting bosses is not a new issue, one-shotting makes it much worse. These issues made it harder for others to enjoy the game. The torpedo starts charged so it excelled in organized play designed to complete TFOs extremely quickly, but we saw this as a harmless upside. Lastly, the decision of when to fire the Maelstrom has been mostly about target availability and internal cooldowns, making the high moments a bit same-y – not bad, could be better. We set out to build a changelist that would target the bossing case and nudge PVP tuning in a healthier direction. We had two main options here – first, a very simple change to recharge time with a broader impact, and second, a more complex change that added mechanics to the weapon but was more precisely targeted. We made the simple change since we believed the torpedo simply didn’t need to store so much power to do its job. The results were spicy. First, players enjoyed the longer charge paradigm more than the faster one unto itself, irrespective of damage. That was a huge surprise, and hints that this torp, far from being at the extreme upper end of recharge time, might be closer to a sweet spot for it. Second, the torpedo’s performance suffered unacceptably in common cases – in particular, torpedo builds. The way torpedo builds juggle the global cooldown and select specific torpedoes for specific jobs is far too perfect for the Maelstrom. If the Maelstrom isn’t viable there, it’s lost its essence. That brings us to the current changelist, which we’ll be shipping live soon-ish. (Seriously, no ETA - Kael) We’re still playing with it internally, but what we have now restores the damage of the Maelstrom against targets conditionally. Against cruisers and smaller, it always deals its old damage. Against battleships, it’s when the shield facing is at or near zero. Against bosses and players, it’s when they’re below half hull. Recharge time is now a bit faster than 90s since the torp should get some power back for its old damage becoming conditional. The idea here is to try to narrow the impact of the changes while emphasizing healthier gameplay patterns generally. The Maelstrom’s premise makes it a natural fit for torpedo and mixed armament builds. We needed to stop it one-shotting bosses, but we also insist it be good in its role. That strategy applies to more than just the Maelstrom. When a fix to a problem harms the core viability of the power, we intend to use these kinds of follow-up changes. The Maelstrom is currently getting that treatment, but it wasn’t the first to apply the new plan. Buffs to a couple of other familiar powers will have made their way live by this posting, with the Maelstrom changes following in a subsequent patch. Jolan tru.
